Working as a sustainability professional offers the unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on
environmental, social, and economic systems while aligning one’s career with purpose and global
responsibility. These professionals play a critical role in shaping sustainable practices across industries,
from reducing carbon footprints and promoting renewable energy to ensuring ethical supply chains
and fostering corporate social responsibility. Additionally, the growing global focus on climate action
and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) metrics ensures strong job demand and the potential
for meaningful career advancement.
LEED Accreditation
A LEED Green Associate (GA) is a professional credential demonstrating knowledge of green building principles and
practices, particularly those related to the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system. It’s
a foundational credential for those working in or pursuing careers in sustainable building. The credential signifies
that an individual has a documented, up-to-date understanding of green building practices and the LEED
process. It’s often the first step for those seeking more advanced LEED AP (Accredited Professional) credentials.
Key benefits of LEED GA certification
~ Global Recognition:
LEED Green Associates are part of a global community of professionals dedicated to sustainable building practices.
~ No Prerequisites:
There are no formal prerequisites for taking the LEED Green Associate exam. There is no minimum age
requirement.
~ Wide Applicability:
The credential is relevant to various professions involved in the building lifecycle, including architects,
engineers, contractors, and real estate professionals.
~ Required Exam:
The LEED Green Associate credential is obtained by passing the LEED Green Associate exam. The exam is 100
multiple-choice questions long, and candidates have the option to take it at a testing center or remotely. Study for your exam online, with expert training from MHRF professional instructors, trained and certified as LEED
Green Associates and WELL Faculty instructors.
WELL Accreditation
The WELL Building Standard is an evidence-based system for measuring, certifying, and monitoring the
performance of building features that impact health and well-being. WELL builds on LEED. It starts where LEED
left off. The WELL Accredited Professional (WELL AP) credential signifies knowledge of human health and
wellness in the built environment and specialization in the WELL Building Standard.
Key benefits of WELL AP certification
~ Professional Credibility: Establishes expertise in health and wellness in the built environment.
~ Career Advancement: Opens doors to roles in sustainability, design, and corporate wellness.
~ Market Differentiation: Distinguishes you in competitive industries like architecture, real estate, and
facility management.
~ Client Trust: Builds confidence among clients seeking healthier, more sustainable spaces.
~ Knowledge of WELL Standards: Equips you with a deep understanding of the WELL Building Standard
and its application.
~ Contribution to Public Health: Empowers you to create environments that support physical and mental
well-being.
Requirements
To become a WELL AP, all candidates must pass the 115-question multiple-choice exam. The exam tests a
candidate’s competency to perform the duties on a WELL Certification project. The exam is based on the
expertise of leading practitioners in design, health, and wellness in the built environment. Examinees must be
18 years of age or older.
If you are coming from a green building/LEED background or have passed the LEED Green Associate (GA) exam,
you will have a head start by being familiar with much of the terminology. However, you will still need to learn
numerous health statistics and information about various human body systems to be prepared for these
questions on the WELL AP exam. Study for your exam online, with expert training from MHRF professional
instructors, trained and certified as LEED Green Associates and WELL Faculty instructors.
Credential Maintenance
Like LEED credentials, the WELL AP credential has maintenance requirements within each two-year credentialing
period. Due to the complementary nature of LEED and WELL, many credit hours can be shared across credentials
during the same credentialing period. LEED GA requires 15 credit hours (3 LEED-specific) and WELL AP requires
30 credit hours (6 WELL-specific).
